After successful completion, your certificate from TEFL Teacher will state that you are certified in
Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
This is a thoroughly practical course. For us, practical insights and tips are much more important
than theory. Of course, theory underpins some aspects of teaching. However, when you start
teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language), it’s these kinds of questions that will be in the forefront
of your mind:

• How do I plan a lesson?
• When should I do this?
• What should I do next?
• How can I introduce this?
• How do I know they have grasped this?
• What should I be focusing on?
• How can I do this better?
• How can I keep up their motivation?
Remember that much of the theory in learning is not proven. In any case, you will be dealing with
individuals from different childhood experiences, different learning experiences, different learning
preferences, different attitudes and different levels of motivation, so the theory won’t always apply
to everyone.
Our approach will centre on what does work well in practice.
We have one overriding achievement goal: to ensure that you will be as fully prepared as you can be
when stepping into your TEFL role.

1. Accreditation

We are delighted that our course has been accredited as a high-quality course by ACCREDITAT
(https://www.accreditat.com.), a leading independent and international accreditation body. Their
accreditation confirms that our course, our tutors, our assessment instruments and our company
processes and procedures are all high-quality and are fully geared to helping you succeed.

Note that ACCREDITAT offers you an additional ACCREDITAT Confirmation Document, certifying that
you have completed this course successfully with TEFL Teacher on the specific date. It’s a
confirmation certificate, not an academic certificate. Many students apply for this additional
certificate. It’s not compulsory. You can find information about this additional ACCREDITAT
Confirmation Document at https://www.accreditat.com/tefl-tesol-students/register-with-us.html .

2. Content

Sequenced Modules
There are 10 Modules in the course, each divided into Sections. We feel it’s best to tackle the
Modules in order as we have strived to ensure that the Modules build on each other in progression.
Language in the Course
We’ve kept the language in the course as plain and simple as possible – just as you should do when
teaching EFL. There are no gold stars for teachers who use fancy language when teaching EFL. It’s all
about communication via plain and simple language.
1. He/she
We find it annoying when we come across texts which say: If he or she were to do this, then it would
reflect on him or her. We hope you feel the same. So, whenever we are talking about a teacher or a
student, we may say she on one occasion and he on another. We aim to avoid this very cumbersome
structure. However, we have had to use he/she a few times.
2. Learner/student
We view these terms as interchangeable, so sometimes we will say student(s), and sometimes we
will say learner(s).
3. British and American English
For no reason, we have written this course in British English. There are some differences between
British English and American English but not many. Wherever you see a word in the course spelt
differently, or a word you are not familiar with, it’s likely that this is due to differences in British and
American English. You can check out the main differences on the internet.
It can be a little bit annoying and time-consuming when a student leaves a comment on social media
such as: It’s an excellent course, but there were some spelling mistakes/strange words in it. This is
almost always because he does not realise the differences between British English and American
English.
Ensure you are aware. Enough said!

3. Activities

We have included lots of activities which you can carry out with your students, so you’ll be ready to
roll from Day 1 in your new job.
Also, we have included activities for you. These will come under the heading of Time to reflect.

4. Intentional repetition

There are a few times where we intentionally repeat some points because they are critical to your
success. Remember: repetition is an excellent teaching and learning technique.

5. Assessment

We don’t want to make a big issue about assessment. What we want you to do is to focus well on
the content, and the assessments will take care of themselves. However, it’s only right to tell you
what will happen.
At the end of each Module, there will be a Quiz. Each Quiz consists of 15 questions, covering the
relevant Module in a mix of multiple-choice and true/false questions.
At the end of the Conclusion, there will be a Final Assessment, which will be in a similar format to
the previous Quizzes. It will contain 50 questions.
In total, therefore, there will be 200 questions. So, this is a very substantial and robust assessment
process.
Note this: we’ll not be trying to catch you out. All answers are in the text. We want all of you to pass!
Let’s get going! You have a lot to cover. But you’ll enjoy it all! Promise!

Most jobs require you to have obtained a TEFL certificate (we can provide one),a degree (in any field) with a clean criminal record. We are a TEFL course provider and do not specialize in recruiting. We do work with schools in Vietnam that are hiring TEFL teachers and will also recommend various recruiting websites that are recruiting teachers abroad.
